David Jones Biography

Jones was born to Thomas Jones and his wife Nancy in 1973. His father owned a farm near Llandeilo in Wales. From a tender age, Jones was a talented entrepreneur. He started as a grocer In Carmarthen and his talent in business earned him a management job at a general store in Eglvyswrw, Pembrokeshire. He was only 18 years old. p>

He was later hired by R.N Nicholas who owned a firm at Wood-street in London. He got married at St Andrew”s Church to a beautiful wife, Jane Mander, the daughter to John Mander of East Smithfield in 1828. They were blessed with four sons and daughter. His eldest son, David Mander Jones and his brother George Hall-Jones, bought a large cattle ranch, Boonara Station, near Kingaroy in the South Burnett in 1853. He retired as a successful manager 1856 but returned to save his firm from bankruptcy. He fully retired in 1868. p>
