James Mclurkin Biography

McClurkin was born in 1972 in Baldwin New York. In 1988, he built his first robot and then followed it with several designs such as the LEGO bricks. As soon as he graduates from the Baldwin High School, he enrolled in Massachusetts Institute of Technology; he received his B.S. degree there. He majored in Electrical Engineering. He had his Ph. D. in computer science in 2008.Ever since 1995, he has been asked to speak at the Smithsonian Museum, Harvard. He was featured in the Lemelson center’s traveling exhibit. And was awarded 2003 Lemelson MIT student Prize. He was named among the top 5 engineers in the ‘Rise of the Machines’ feature.He was appointed the assistant professor at the Rice University. He used nature as a model; his core research was centered around creating a distributed algorithm for the multi-robot system; the software is used for large swarms of autonomous robots.
