Jeffery Brain Straubel is the chief Technical officer and part of the Founding Team of Tesla Inc. He was born on December 20th, 1975 at Des Moines, Iowa, United States. JB Straubel's career started at a junkyard in Egg Harbor Wisconsin, where, at the age of 14, he discovered a discarded electric golf cart from the Junkyard at Alpine Golf Course. JB decided to rebuild it, thus began a lifelong fascination with energy work and electric vehiclesStraubel received a B.S. in Energy Systems Engineering and an M.S. in Energy Engineering, with an emphasis on energy conversion, both from Stanford University. Currently, He lectures at his alma mater, Stanford University, where he teaches the popular Energy Storage Integration class in the Atmosphere and Energy Program.Straubel gained public recognition as one of the top 35 innovators in the world under the age of 35 after he was named in MIT Technology Review TR35, following his years of service at Tesla. Straubel is also responsible for new technology evaluation, R&D, technical diligence review of key vendors and partners, IP, and systems validation testing. His long passion for electric cars led him to design and build an electric porche 944, the vehicle went ahead to earn a 240 VSC/B world electric racing record. In 2009 DesignNews named him “Engineer of the Year.”
