Michael Steep Biography

Michael Steep is Senior Vice President of Global Business Operations overseeing PARC’s commercial business development sales strategy and marketing. He manages PARC’s global strategic relationships for clients in diverse focus areas including networking novel electronics human-centered innovation services energy intelligent systems contextual intelligence and more.Mike has over two decades of operating experience serving in key roles managing global P&L's country and global sales organizations digital marketing corporate strategy business development innovation and strategic alliances for companies including Microsoft Lexmark (IBM) Apple Xerox and HP. As Vice President of Business Development for Lexmark he started company operations in Japan China and Korea and also served as President of the Japan KK. While at Apple he managed the company's product marketing organization which launched the first consumer digital camera and other imaging products. He has also served as EVP and COO of a public company he turned around and sold. He also served as CEO and founder of a venture-financed startup earlier in his career.Mike is passionate about corporate transformation and focuses on development of fully-integrated practical approaches to innovation harnessing the power of emerging technologies to solve a customer's strategic problem. He has worked with senior innovation and R&D executives from large multinational corporations across multiple industries including Ford BMW 3M WellPoint Medtronic Merck British Petroleum Best Buy and more. He has initiated a broad range of technology initiatives and joint ventures with companies in areas including big data predictive algorithms cloud location-based services and mobile.Mike earned his M.B.A from the Darden School of Business and his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania. He is a Distinguished Visiting Scholar at Stanford University and an Adjunct Professor of Digital Business and a Distinguished Lecturer at Imperial College London.He also works with Stanford University's Media X organization which is focused on technology and business model innovation. Mike maintains a strong interest in digital cities and has worked with the City of London and several Chinese universities on the next big data platform layer for large metropolitan areas.
